Some of the highlights of the year that emanated from this working group included the  following:

  • The WG adopted the use of STS as the PIESA standard for pre-payment vending systems.
  • That the use of split prepayment metering and concentric cables be introduced , as it was found to greatly reduce meter tampering and by passes.
  • That remote metering technology should apply to large maximum Demand consumers.
  • The setting up of common practices for revenue management was initiated.

In addition, as envisaged in the spirit of the PIESA constitution, members agreed to share technical information between the various utilities.
It was also found that active participation of working group members has greatly improved as the Utility management have realized the benefits that are achieved by the sharing of experiences and information.
In addition, we gratefully acknowledge the valuable contributions from the PIESA affiliates that have assisted in moving the working group forward, and we are convinced that  these efforts will be mutually beneficial as we proceed
The three year business plan has been completed
