After a review by PIESA management, it was decided not to hold the PIESA Conference in February as was announced recently. There will be the annual meetings at the AUW in May and we will focus our efforts in preparing for our annual conference in September.

Past Events




Innovative Electrical Power Supplies” will be the vehicle to showcase our case studies in the format of interactive sessions where members will explore opportunities for electrification to reach many consumers.

The idea is to use the conference as a platform where experts in mini and micro electrical power generation and funding of such projects can share with members.

Participants are requested to make proposals on the topic they would like to present. Practical case studies, research, innovations, management practices and report backs to the industry, are all welcome.

PIESA Events Calendar 2015

PIESA Conference 2015, scheduled for 23 – 25 February in Mangochi, Malawi.

Power Distribution Challenges in Sub-Saharan Africawill be the vehicle to showcase our case studies in the format of panel discussions where members will highlight the burning issues faced by the utilities, with the affiliate members available to contribute to the discussions and create opportunities for addressing these challenges.

 

The idea is to use the conference as a platform where members can share experiences on specific issues that constitute challenges or opportunities in the industry.

Environmental Engineering Training Programme
for Electricity Utilities: 27-29 May 2013 - Uganda

PIESA are proud to announce that the Environmental and Safety management working group will present a course for PIESA members on Environmental Engineering for Electricity utilities at the UMEME Training centre in Kampala in Uganda.
 
There will be no cost for the course for PIESA members, however, delegates will be responsible for their own flights and accommodation and transport to the Silver Springs Hotel

On successful completion of this course, the leaner is capable of:

    Understanding the concept of ‘sustainable development’ and the need for it from a business perspective.
    Incorporating appropriate environmental management strategies into projects.
    Analysing and implementing various environmental assessment tools, such as environmental impact assessments (EIAs).

PREPAID METER TRAINING

The Prepaid Metering Training Workshop was designed specifically to cover the requirements of PIESA utility members. The “Non technical loss Reduction Working Group “of the PIESA has identified this training requirement as a priority by PIESA members, and was subsequently approved by the Board to be conducted in 2010.
